Carleen Carleen copyright 2010

Carleen’s story will be remarkably easy for any future correspondent to write after she has won her first Oscar.  Growing up, Carleen always knew she was going to work in the entertainment industry, using her family’s VHS camcorder since the moment she knew how to work it.

After graduating from high school in 2006, she was accepted as a film production major at the University of Colorado Denver.  As the sweet breath of destiny would have it, she was fortunately assigned to be roommates with
Nicole Herrera, an aspiring screenwriter.  Together, along with their third roommate, Hannah Feregesen, they created Vera Icon Films.

It didn’t take long for Carleen to realize that, as important as college education is, sometimes four years is a little too long to wait for your dreams.  You got to take the leap.  She transferred to the University of Northern Colorado to finish up her Bachelors online, so she could move to Los Angeles.

Since moving in July 2009, Carleen has already begun to make her mark, interning for business like John Wells Productions, Emerging Entertainment, Denver and Delilah Productions, and with
The Hatchery, LLC as an Academy of Television Arts & Sciences intern.

She will graduate with her Bachelor of Arts in Communication Studies minor in Film Production, in May 2010.
And that’ll only be the beginning.
